he first thing that probably springs to mind when you think of warts is how unappealing they are to look at. That is unquestionably true, but they also pose a threat to your health. Here at Westchester Podiatric Medicine, P.C., we’re dedicated to the safe and effective treatment of warts on your feet.
Warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). Broken skin is where they tend to strike, infecting the top layer of the skin. And while some warts will eventually go away on their own, there is good reason to consult with our Bronxville best podiatrist. Warts are contagious. They spread quickly with direct contact, and not just to other people. You can transfer the virus from your foot to elsewhere on your body through touching it with your hand. The appearance of a wart does not indicate that it just occurred overnight. They develop for a period of time before they become visible, so do not assume when you notice one that you have all the time in the world to have it evaluated. The wart can even obtain its own blood supply, as vessels grow inside it. This means that the wart is likely to linger. Pain is not automatic, but can be a symptom. Our Bronxville best podiatrist will be able to identify the wart on sight, though it may need to be biopsied if it has an unusual color or growth pattern, or if bleeding is happening as a result of it. Does every wart have to be removed? No. It is only if it is painful or appears to be spreading that removal becomes necessary. You may decide to have it taken off anyway, though, if you are displeased with the aesthetics of it.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to our office. Schedule an appointment to have your wart looked at by our Bronxville best podiatrist.
